Job Description:

Experience Level: Minimum 8-10 years as Solaris/Linux Admin

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:

·         Installing RHEL 4 ,5 and , CentOS 4 and 5  with hardware raid configuration  and installation of Linux  OS using askmethod

·         Perform Level 2, Level 3 operations support

·         Experience with Migration / consolidation activities/projects

·         Configuring LVM as extending Logical Volume and Physical Volume Size

·         Experience in Kickstart Installation method using nfs

·         Remote administration with ssh service and configuring ssh without password as per user requirement

·         Maintenance of DELL ( 2650, 2850, 2950) servers and HP Proliant servers with Hardware troubleshooting

·         Working experience  on DELL  DRAC and  HP ILO

·         Vendor management with DELL and HP

·         User Management

·         Patch Management and packages installations

·         Working Experience  in Ticketing Tools like  Remedy ,  HPOV and CA

·         Performance Tuning

·         Working in experience in VMwareESX server, creating VMs and installation of OS in virtual machines.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS


Education, Certification, and Relevant Experience:

·         8-10 years relevant work experience

·         Strong background and experience with multiple versions of Solaris &Redhat Linux Operating System

·         Experience in installation (manual / remote) , configuration, administration, tuning, and troubleshooting UNIX/Linux Operating system issues

·         Experience on standard UNIX services like SSH, FTP, NFS, DNS, Samba, Sudo etc.

·         Exposure to managing servers remotely using ILOM, KVM and ALOM consoles.

·         Ability to read / customize Shell/Perl scripts

·         Good understanding of virtualization, Storage, Network concepts

·         Experience in Large enterprises with infrastructures of 200+ servers

·         Proficient verbal and written communication skills – English

·         Technical writing experience

·         Basic Project management skills

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong customer focus and demonstrated ability to work in geographically dispersed teams

·         Ability to manage competing priorities

·         Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications

·         Apply logical thought process and ability to learn new systems, concepts, and procedures

·         Must be available to work off hours or shifts as required for 24/7/365 support

 

Preferred experience:

·         RHCE certification is compulsory

·         Knowledge on Solaris 10  zones

·         Exposure on T series servers T2000, T5140, T5240

·         Knowledge on AIX environment is a plus.

·         Knowledge in ITIL processes
