Our client has an immediate opening for a C++ Embedded Software Engineer. The position provides an opportunity to further enhance the cutting-edge technology that supports domestic and foreign defense systems. The company's employees work closely with customers to develop solutions for defense, intelligence, and security missions. The selected candidate will work to recognize and obtain new business endeavors for the company and its customers. The C++ Embedded Software Engineer will work among a talented and technically accomplished group of colleagues. Job Description
This selected candidate will contribute to a 6-8 person software development team, carrying out the full software development life-cycle (SDLC) to provide new competences for the Weapon Control System (WCS) program, a system that launches torpedoes, missiles (such as the tomahawk) and electronic countermeasures off all U.S. submarine platforms.
The qualified candidate must have knowledge and practical experience with:
Software development life-cycle model,
Intermediary knowledge and experience of the C++ programming language and at least novice knowledge of another programming language,
Linux Command line knowledge,
Familiar in HTML5, CSS and JavaScript, and
Knowledge of software development tools and development environments (integrated development environment - IDE, compilers/interpreters, simulators, emulators, code/test generators).
The qualified candidate will also supply groundbreaking, flexible, incorporated solutions to fulfill customers' dynamic business needs. He or she will also support and involve in programs, projects and practices behind our client's philosophy and strategy, and conform to all policies and procedures. This Engineer will follow industry and department tendencies and developments to guarantee that this company's services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.
Key Requirements
Candidates must exhibit a passion for innovation, a refined understanding of software systems and applications, and the ability to successfully manage, develop and evolve this company's software solutions.
A Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a relevant discipline and 2 to 5 years of related experience; or a Master's degree and 0 to 2 years of related experience.
Must be able to acquire a DOD security clearance within 6 months from time of hire.
Applicants chosen will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
U.S. citizenship is required.
Qualifications (Preferred):
Object-oriented design principles.
Experience with software design patterns.
Requirements analysis (decomposition of system requirements to lower levels) and experience with a requirements management tool.
Strong understanding of real-time system concepts (timing, scheduling, real-time operating system (RTOS) services, etc.).
Skill in hardware/software integration, including testing and verification.
UML experience is a plus.
