Position: Data Warehouse Architect

Client: BCBS Association FEP

Location: Washington, DC

Duration: 12 Month Contract

Interview Process: 1^st Round Phone, 2^nd Round Onsite

Description:

Knowledge of all components of the warehousing architecture including – technical infrastructure, data, ETL, BI & metadata management.
Ability to analyze objectives and goals to identify common patterns, leverage points and consistent business needs across multiple business units and initiatives. Develop reference architectures and models for the major architectural domains: business, information, technical, and system architectures. Break down business problems and capabilities into projects, platforms, frameworks, applications, and services that when realized, produce software that solves business problems and/or creates new business capabilities.
Develops enterprise level application and custom integration solutions including major enhancements and interfaces, functions and features.
Serve as expert level advisor to business and IT management on architectural and technology topics, best practices, risks and opportunities.

Conduct research in emerging technologies and identify technologies with high-potential business value and specify their appropriate usage in developing business solutions.
Provides design recommendations based on long-term it organization strategy. Develops enterprise level application and custom integration solutions including major enhancements and interfaces, functions and features.
Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) services to individual projects in the areas of architectural and technology selection decisions.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering or Science field, or equivalent work experience in similar work environment.
Minimum 10 years of IT or software development work experience including data architecture, software and system architecture, application system design and implementation, technical team leadership, project management.

Experience integrating various components, such as COBOL, CICS, IMS, DB2, MQ, J2EE, WebSphere, Oracle, SQL and Cognos.
In-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art programming languages and object oriented approaches in designing, coding, testing and debugging programs.
Strong analytical, research and conceptual skills.
The ability to create original concepts/theories for various projects and to work independently under the direction of a senior architecture lead.
Excellent presentation skills and communication skills.
Ability to develop and maintain key relationships to achieve business objectives essential.
Strong understanding of the health insurance industry with prior BCBS experience a plus.
