Description:-
| The Security Engineer is responsible for researching, evaluating, and designing technical security solutions for the enterprise in support of the Strategic Security Plan; providing technical security assessment support; as well as providing technical security collaboration and guidance within a Region of Providence Health & Services. Enterprise accountabilities include executing security engineering practices for Enterprise Security projects; conduct product research and participate in the selection process of technologies to support security requirements; establish technical security guidance for PH&S; and conduct technical security assessments. KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS The position reports to the Director of IT Security Services, Communication Services Infrastructure and must establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels in Providence Strategic and Management Services (PSMS), as well as with other Providence Health & Services staff, vendors and agents, and others. Regional accountabilities include participating as part of a "virtual team" consisting of a Security Engineer and Security Risk Analyst led by the Regional Information Security Officer (RISO) for daily operational security support for the Region; participating in regional architecture review processes and regional change management boards; and assisting with Incident Response activities as required. Staff in this role must have the ability to provide a high level of technical expertise across multiple technology disciplines; balance regional and enterprise security responsibilities and work in a matrixed reporting structure. |
Required:-
Minimum of a Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience, or continuous experience at a senior level from another It discipline.
Experience:
· 5-8 years of IT technical experience AND 2-4 years of continuous information security experience.
· Active CISSP, SCCP, SANS or equivalents are required.
· Level II placements requires comprehensive competency in all level 1 technical knowledge, skills, and abilities, plus the following: Functional experience designing security controls and countermeasures for operating systems, databases, applications, Web services, user devices, and wireless networks; Functional experience operating open-source and proprietary vulnerability scanners.
· Working knowledge of the security issues/concerns that impact the healthcare industry and related technologies that can address these security concerns. General knowledge of IT Audit techniques.
· Awareness of regulatory and legislative drivers that affect the healthcare industry.
· Ability to effectively conduct productive meetings with peers, vendors, directors and managers.
· Ability to provide assistance to Level I staff as a first point of escalation during problem resolution.
· Ability to review, modify and improve standards, processes, policies and procedures that improve service quality and reliability.
· Knowledge of when and how new and emerging technologies would solve a technical problem or enhance operational support services.
