Job Description:
Job Title   : Senior Cognos Lead

Location  : Purchase, NY
Duration : 12+ Months

 

Candidates should have P&C Experience.

 

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain reports using Cognos 10.2 Report Studio
• Develop and maintain dashboards and apply data visualization best practices
• Define and document setup and configuration parameters
• Define and follow Cognos development best practices
• Manage report security, folder security, database row level security, report schedules and distribution
• Coordinating with Software Testers and Release Management to integrate the final work product into the production environment by creating deployment files

Experience Required:

• good experience with BI/DW and data architecture.
• Familiarity with development methodologies
• 5+ years' experience and a deep technical knowledge with Cognos Report Studio
• 3+ years' experience and a technical knowledge with Cognos Administration
• Strong PL/SQL development experience with the ability to write complex and nested SQL queries
• Senior level skills in building Reports, Dashboards, Scorecards and Active Reports using IBM Cognos 10.x

• Experience working in a software development environment
• Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and 2012
• Clear, logical, and effective verbal/written communication skills.
• Clearly demonstrated sense of urgency and bias for action.
• Ability to work well under pressure and independently.
• Ability to effectively negotiate with other teams to create a mutually beneficial solution
• Demonstrated ability to interpret technical material.
• Takes ownership of problems and develops sound solutions.
• Demonstrates sound analytical and diagnostic skills dealing with issues that are not readily defined and/or conflict with available information. Has the ability to reach sound decisions quickly.
• Able to fully research business situation, identify areas of concern and present solution.

 

Other:

• Familiarity with visual design concepts for dashboards is a strong plus
• Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge in P&C Insurance systems and processes is a strong plus
• Provide system support for the Cognos environment (Cognos Administration for both the development and production environments)
• 3+ years' experience with Event Studio is a plus
• 3+ years' experience with Analysis Studio is a plus
• Experience with Cognos 10.2 Dynamic Cubes is a plus
• Experience with Cognos 10 DQM is a plus
