Java UI developer

Durham, NC

Role Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated individual that is able to see the 'big picture' and help establish and follow best practices. The ideal candidate must be a team player with a strong understanding of software design principals in order create robust scalable solutions and help mentor junior team members.

This position will be responsible for the design and development of multiple high profile applications under Asset Management. All UI development is done using the HTML5/JavaScript technologies and Oracle as database.

Candidate Description

Develop high quality software solutions that comply with technical architecture standards and best practices.
Produce high quality technical design documents, including determining appropriate deliverables to be produced during application design effort.
Assess user and system requirements information for accuracy and completeness.
Identify key application design issues (e.g. maintainability and performance) and recommend possible solutions.
Facilitate technical design sessions and provide technical guidance to team members on-shore and off-shore.
Provide leadership in team code reviews and peer mentoring.
Assist project managers in monitoring project status, possibly directing the deliverables of other project team members.
Provide subject matter expertise to business and project management.
Analyze and recommend improvements to the development process.
Review and/or participate in the development of test plans, test cases, and test data.
Participate in product release activities and contribute to troubleshooting production issues as needed.

Education and Experience

BE, Btech in Computer Science, MCA or equivalent field of study
4 – 7 years of professional software development experience working with web development technologies
Financial Service and Investment Management experience required

Skills/Knowledge and experience

Development experience in web technologies especially JavaScript, jQuery, Backbone.js, MVVM Pattern, JSON and XML, Require.js, Underscore.js
Expertise on Spring framework, REST Web Services
IBM Rational ClearCase and thorough understanding of source control management systems
Strong software design experience
Proficient in OOD and modeling with UML
Experience with Agile development methodology
Fundamental experience in systems development lifecycle methodologies, especially in the definition, requirements, and design of business applications
IBM Rational Team Concert experiences a plus
Experience working with offshore – onshore cross functional teams
Experience mentoring junior team members
