Sr. SQL DBA
Washington DC (in-person interview)
8 Months+
Must Have: NoSQL, Windows and Linux
Summary: Provide the configuration, maintenance, and support of a No-SQL database environment on a large GDIT project.
Responsibilities:
· Perform capacity planning required to create and maintain the databases
· Work closely with other administrators and project staff to coordinate problem identification and resolution
· Performs ongoing tuning of the NoSQL instances
· Install new versions of the NoSQL Data Stores and its tools and other tools that access the NoSQL Data Stores
· Plan and implements backup and recovery of the NoSQL Data Stores
· Control migrations of programs, database changes, reference data changes and menu changes through the development life cycle
· Implement and enforce security for all of the NoSQL Data Stores
· Drive Back-End Automation standards, Scalability Architecture solutions and Large Scale Open Source Data Processing for the organization
· Lead data strategy, design and architecture while providing input to the application development teams on how to utilize the capabilities of NoSQL Technologies.
· Evaluate releases of and its tools, and third party products to ensure that the site is kept current with updated technologies
· Perform planning with application developers, project managers, and other administrators, to ensure that any new product usage or release upgrades take place with minimal impact
· Provide technical support to application development teams
· Assist with impact analysis of any changes made to the database objects
· Troubleshoot problems regarding the databases, applications and development tools
· Create new database users as required
Degree: BS or BA in a Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
Experience: 5+ Years with traditional Database technologies such as Oracle and/or MySQL; 1+ Years of experience with NoSQL data stores (Cassandra, MongoDB, Couchbase)
Skills:
· Knowledge of the Windows and LINUX operating systems· Knowledge of physical database design· Ability to perform performance monitoring and make the necessary adjustments· Ability to provide a strategic database direction for the project.· Excellent knowledge of traditional backup and recovery scenarios.
· Well versed in complex performance tuning and benchmarking in both NoSQL and traditional (MySQL or Oracle) platforms.
· Strong knowledge of traditional database security management
· Experience and knowledge in migrating code, database changes, data and menus through the various stages of the development life cycle
· Experience following technical best practices to one or more of the following security-related CA activities (FISMA, FICAM, FedRAMP) a plus
· Previous experience with healthcare data and HIPAA a huge plus
