Web Portal Engineer:

Self motivated and resourceful Web Portal Engineer sought to join a quality-oriented team specializing in the creation of innovative portlet applications for Cisco's world class enterprise collaboration platform.  We are bringing the power of the social network to the enterprise and applying industry best practices to do it.  

Responsibilities

* Develop and maintain an understanding of Cisco's enterprise collaboration platform and it's supporting technologies.

* Work with engineering and client stakeholders to design, develop and deploy high quality portlet applications for the enterprise collaboration platform. 

* Implement  standards compliant portlet applications combining rich (HTML5) web user interfaces with supporting web services.

* Focus on quality and scalability to ensure an excellent end-user experience.

* Work within an Agile development process,  applying team software quality practices including test driven development and continuous integration.

* Contribute to the continuous improvement of team software development processes, practices and tooling, to ensure efficient portlet development and ongoing maintenance.

You will have:

* 5-10 years of industry experience creating and rolling out applications.

* 5 years experience developing web user interfaces and web services, including large scale deployments (100K + users).

* excellent communication skills, with a demonstrable ability to share ideas, concepts and vision with a wide variety of project stakeholders.

* strong Object-Oriented analysis design and development skills 

* a proven record as an innovative problem solver and out-of-the-box thinker.

* experience of the full development lifecycle, ideally within an Agile-like development process

* experience with code quality practices including unit testing, design & code reviews

Programming Languages and Technologies  

Required:

* Java including Core Java, J2EE (JSP, Servlets)

* Javascript, AJAX, JSON, XML with experience of open source Javascript libraries including Dojo and JQuery.

* Spring, Hibernate, Log4J

* Web Protocols : HTTP, SOAP and REST

* Tomcat and/or  IBM WebSphere.

Highly Desirable:

* Standards based portal development experience e.g. Liferay, Websphere PS etc.

* Collaboration Technologies: WIKI's, blogs, forums etc.

* Tools: Firebug, Eclipse, Rally, Maven, Jenkins/Hudson,  Subversion/GIT, JTest, Selenium

* Apache Web Server.
