Position: Data Architect / Solutions Architect

Location: Detroit, MI

Duration:Long term

Responsibilities and Objectives:

Provides technical leadership and consulting across the organization, ranging from strategic planning to project planning.
Designs and implements systems/software architectures that support core organizational functions, while assuring their stability, scalability, and recoverability.
Plans, executes and finalizes projects according to stringent deadlines and budget restrictions. This includes acquiring resources, coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan.
Works closely with project stakeholders, IT and business, to analyze proposed technical solutions. Provides cost estimates, resource estimates, timelines, adjacencies, benefits, potential risks, and alternate solutions when necessary.
Provide guidance on application design by assisting development teams with interoperability, performance, scalability, reliability, availability, technology risks and application life-cycle.
Assist in defining the interaction between application packages, databases, and middleware systems in terms of functional coverage.
Works closely with Infrastructure teams to leverage existing Infrastructure, adhere to standards, and ensure audit compliance.
Works independently and/or autonomously on complex, highly visible architecture projects.
Consults with clients and/or project teams with respect to all aspects of architecture including IT governance.
Acts as a key resource in the exchange of architectural information for project teams, the business and/or outside vendors.
Participates in architecture reviews and technology research efforts.

Technical Skills and Experience Requirements:

7-10 Years demonstrated experience as a Solutions, Infrastructure, Application, or Data Architect.
Experience with middleware infrastructure components such as web servers, application servers, and RDBMS.
Experience working with development teams to leverage technology.
Experience working with infrastructure teams to deploy technology.
Solid experience with SDLC concepts and theories.
Strong research capabilities to find best of breed software, technology and process.
Knowledge of data architecture theories and enterprise architecture concepts.
Experience managing code through development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Experience in analyzing data flows and data modeling for medium to large systems.
Experience developing technology solutions for banking & finance, health care or other highly regulated industries a plus.
Strong experience with web applications and database technologies desired; Apache, JBoss, MySQL development and Linux experience also desired

Education and Interpersonal Skill Requirements:

Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or other information technology oriented major is a must; a Master degree is preferred.
A professional certification in an IT architecture is a plus
Strong oral and written communications skills
Strong potential for growth and acceptance of additional responsibilities
Desire to take initiative to communicate, interact and cooperate with others
