Position: Senior Data Analyst
Location: New York, NY
Type: 6+ months contract
Qualifications
Experience/Knowledge Requirements
Preferred Previous Work Experience:
6-8+ years of experience in data analysis required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus
Minimum 5 years' experience working with Oracle, SQL Server Databases, and SQL
Minimum 5 years of experience gathering business requirements
Experience in both design and develop of enterprise level operational and data warehouse database systems
Experience in both design and develop of enterprise level operational and reporting systems and dashboards
Strong database design experience and experience with data modeling tools like Erwin etc.
Experience leading design sessions
Experience leading business requirements sessions
Mathematical background with knowledge of pricing, risk calculation, etc.
Solid experience with SQL, R programming experience a plus.
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Must be a self-starter that does not require direct supervision
Have a strong fundamental understanding of project management, specifically in the SDLC and Agile methodologies
Have expert level skills in Microsoft products that include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to enable them to:
Facilitate meetings with technical peers regarding the requirements definition
Communicate effectively with business, vendor, and project management staff
Participate in ongoing decisions regarding study design, data collection, data analysis, and Methodology
Required Skills/Abilities
Preferred Education/Licenses/Certifications/Registrations:
Bachelor's degree in quantitative / computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required
Other Skills, Abilities and/or Training:
SQL / R / Data Analysis certifications
Erwin or other Data Modelling tool experience
Ability to write PL/SQL scripts to perform data refreshes from one system to another or run data queries
Ability to identify and map source and target data fields
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
