Title: BI Data Analyst
Location: Columbus, OH
Start date: ASAP
Duration: 6+ Months
Responsibilities:
The BI Data Analyst serves the critical role of profiling and analyzing the data available from the source systems in order to identify any issues of data quality and availability. This role also reviews the data in the staging and warehouse tables to validate the results of the ETL packages and assists with preparing the users who will be involved in user acceptance training. In addition, the Data Analyst provides support to the Data Architect in resolving questions about the data to facilitate the data modeling.
Responsibilities :
· Rapidly develops understanding business processes
· Can interview stakeholders and ask insightful questions, in particular investigating subject areas not immediately contributed by stakeholders
· Attention to detail
· Understands BI concepts including complete definitions of metrics (time series analysis, multi-dimensional analysis).
· Understanding of data modeling and/or object modeling.
· Ability to model using entity relationships and/or business processes using UML
· Ability to query relational databases.
· Understands issues relating to quality in a BI solution.
· Highly collaborative and engaged.
· Attitude that they bear ultimate accountability for the success of the solution.
· Creativity in problem-solving
· Willingness to document and explain solutions in detail.
Skills & Experience
· 2+ years experience in the BI space.
· Experience with data profiling and analysis
· Worked with business organization to validate BI solution.
· Development of semantic layer a plus.
· Extensive experience with written technical communication.
· Very strong English language skills.
· Performed in a quality assurance (testing) role.
· 8+ years experience in the BI technology space.
· Emphasis on data architecture and modeling for BI and integration.
· Hands-on experience with Reporting technologies (e.g. SQL Server Analysis Services, Reporting Services, Microstrategy, Business Objects, Cognos)
· Expert in SQL query writing
· 8+ years expertise in data modeling for BI, including extensive data integration, data profiling, and data cleansing
· Demonstrates ability to quickly learn new tools based on conceptual understanding of technology. Understands common data quality issues related to BI and can elaborate on how to resolve them.
· Demonstrates ability to build data models supporting complex transformation.
· Demonstrates ability to write documentation that explains complex technical concepts.
