JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Portal Applications Developer is responsible for developing portal applications to meet our government customer requirements.
The position will require working closely with business requirements and design analysts to implement front-end portal applications using IBM WebSphere Portal software.
Experience with JSR 168/286 Portlets Development is key. The position will also include designing portals that are compliant with Section 508 accessibility requirements.
The position will require environmental setup, configuration support, application deployments, and application migrations.
It will include providing technical assistance in resolving production system problems, and investigation of technologies and recommending solutions to meet business needs.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

At least 8 years of general IT related experience, with 2 years being specialized in WebSphere Portal application development in a Systems Life Cycle team environment.
Ability to use WebSphere Portal tools to develop portlets that meet the JSR 168/286 standard. Experience with Section 508 accessibility requirements.
Experience with J2EE, JSP, Java Scripts especially Dojo Toolkit and Dynamic HTML. Experience with GUI design and development is a plus. Good team player with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Experience developing Java J2EE components including, JSPs, and Servlets. Experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server. Strong Unix/Linux experience in an enterprise environment is required.
Responsible for developing enterprise level integrated solutions for legacy and modernized systems.
The position will support the development of an improved data architecture and data strategy.
The effort will apply modern Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and tools, including the WebMethods Enterprise development and process modeling tools.
The position will require a close working relationship with functional subject matter experts, developers, and architecture specialists.
It will support the development of web services using Java, WebMethods, and Oracle database tools.
Background in J2EE and object oriented development will be a key.
The candidate must be competent in E-Business transactions and have hands-on experience with data and process modeling tools, and relational databases such as Oracle.
Knowledge of Web Services, Java/J2EE, XML/XSDs, UML, JMS, standard development methodology (i.e. Agile, Scrum, Spiral, Waterfall, RAD, etc.), and object-oriented development.
Experience with large-scale system design and integration tasks, comprising design and implementation of major systems, systems of systems, integration of systems elements and related support systems.
Good team player characteristics with strong verbal and written communication skills.
