Role : Windows Engineer

Location: NYC

Duration 6-12 months

Overview:

Windows Operations functions as a global team responsible for the maintenance and support of the all Windows servers including the primary Windows based infrastructure. The team has an important central role and works closely with global colleagues, infrastructure teams and business areas to provide these services.

This is an exciting role and the candidate's primary role will be to provide support of the Windows platform's Windows 2003 Obsolescences project. This includes all aspects of the Server platform life cycle from procurement, to build, to configuration, administrate and thru to the operating system's retirement. This candidate will manage all these aspects of the life cycle of any giving Windows servers in our estate.

The team operates a global model.

The candidate must be a team player, highly articulate, and be able to work well within a major financial institution within a dynamic operational environment. Solid technical, communication and interpersonal skills are important.

Services managed by the team:

· Windows Server Operating Systems running on physical and virtual infrastructure.

· VMware Virtualization for Servers

· DHCP and DNS

· Build and Update Services managed by SCCM

· Windows XP and Windows 7 Operating Systems running on physical and virtual infrastructure.

· Antivirus

Role / Principal Accountabilities:

· The candidate will serve as point for the firm's Windows 2003 obsolescence project. Serve as point for the builds, configurations and implementations of migrated servers from the obolete Windows 2003 operating system.

· This role will participate with the team that builds and supports the Windows Platform estate and work with application teams to configure and optimize when applications to new servers (Windows 2008/2012)

· Maintain the highest level of expertise in designated products and components of the Windows Platform as we retire Windows 2003 servers.

· Provide troubleshooting support and advanced analysis of requests within the Windows Platform

· Provide support for other Windows Core Services as part of the global team.

· Implement engineered solutions to improve efficiency and stability of the Windows Platform

· Provide documentation for 1st line Operations Control run books

· Creating and updating environment documentation / change management

· Automate systems, processes, and continuously reviewing to improve stability and speed.

Skills & Experience Required:

· 5+ years of experience in a mid-to-large environment of Active Directory management and related services (group policy, DNS, DHCP, etc.)

· Demonstrate enterprise skills in technologies

o Windows 2012/ 2008/ 2003/ 7 / XP Operating Systems,

o VMWare 5x

o SCCM, and

· Experience with large-scale AD and server management and deployment

· Experience working with enterprise level network & storage technology (FC SAN, 10Gb, etc.)

· Strong attention to details with the ability to troubleshoot issues and provide resolution

· Demonstrates constant considerations of risks and impacts especially with regards to changes such as security patching (i.e., change management.)

· Solid scripting ability (PowerShell, VBScript plus WMI extensions)

· Ability to quickly pick up new knowledge of specific applications within the environment

· Project management, organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and manage multiple concurrent projects

· Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must.

· Experience configuring and managing HP Blade Chassis, servers & interconnects

Desirable:

· Knowledge in Information Security

· Investment Banking experience desirable but not essential.

· Knowledge of any of the other Core Services product
