Data Analyst

The Data Analyst analyzes existing information sources and defines the best sources of data for reporting and analytics designed to assist the decision making of business units to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and grow customer satisfaction. The Data Analyst needs to be familiar with data query tools, data modeling tools, and data presentation tools.
Experience with the following tools/technologies is desired:
SQL Server Management Studio
Oracle PL/SQL
Erwin
Microsoft Excel
Microsoft Visio
Microsoft Power Point
Qualifications:
Experience with Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence tools and techniques.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business requirements.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of colleagues, business departments, and management.
Ability to work independently or as part of the team to meet goals and objectives.
Strong interpersonal skills that reflect courtesy, diplomacy, and a collaborative approach to develop and maintain effective work relationships.
Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment and discretion in the performance of all work assignments.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work accordingly to meet deadlines while staying on task with daily assignments.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with University and departmental officials/staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify data sources required for the development of reports.
Assess adequacy of existing data for reporting requests.
Develop and maintain an enterprise-wide data dictionary.
Analyze data to determine potential risk exposure.
Classify data according to pre-defined corporate record class codes.
Create an inventory of PII (Personally Identifiable Information) data.
Design solutions for automating complex repeatable queries that normalize and cleanse data.
Identify data access points currently available to users and assess the need for these access points.
Provide recommendations for reducing the number of available data access points.
