Title : Business Systems Analyst
Location : Columbus, OH
Contract : 6 months open ended
Client is currently seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to support a large project on an existing web based application. The Qualified candidate will have the following responsibilities:
• Will learn and maintain in-depth knowledge of the business processes and the systems as well as stay current in technical enhancements, methodologies and trends related to the assigned businesses and systems
• Will assist in analyzing the existing systems or procedures to identify opportunities for technical or procedural improvements and act as a champion of the business unit in transforming ideas into projects
• Large project support – For large projects, the candidate will work with the assigned project manager, lead architect, lead developer and other analysts to execute initiatives on time and within budget. Will also be responsible to direct work of other analysts on the project. May directly or indirectly be held responsible to document scope, document requirements, coordinate user acceptance testing, document and support implementation and post implementation activities
• Small project support – Will be the acting project manager and responsible for the execution of the project end to end including resource allocation, budget and communication
• Will document business and IT process flows, work flows and data flows
• Will define project scope and gather and document detailed requirements
• Will review technical design specifications to assert if all the requirements are met
• Will review test plans and test cases to assert if all the requirements are being tested
• Will coordinate user acceptance testing with the business users and IT quality assurance team
• Will help document and plan production implementation
• Will perform post implementation validation if needed
• Will work with technical and non-technical vendor representatives as needed to enhance or support systems
• Will lead other business analysts as needed. Will be required to review their deliverables and suggest improvements
• Will act as a champion of continuous improvement in the team
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in a technically related field of study
• Must have 6+ years of experience performing duties as a business systems analyst producing the following artifacts:
· Developing scope documents
· Documenting requirements in detail
· Developing data mapping documents
· Developing diagrams that elaborate process flows, work flows, data flows, system interactions, user interactions and system infrastructure components
· Documenting functional design specifications
• Experience in identifying and documenting business scope and requirements
• Must possess interpersonal skills to work well with business and IT groups (for instance, communicate requirements to IT teams which includes application development, quality assurance and management)
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and in elaborating complex processes using Microsoft Visio
• Understanding of waterfall software development life cycle (SDLC)
• Understanding the focus of user acceptance testing (UAT) and be able to coordinate it
• Must possess strong oral and written communication skills, strong analytical skills, a "can do" attitude (important) and attention to detail
• Must be a team player with a strong urge for customer service and satisfaction (important)
Preferred Traits and Characteristics
• Experience in capital markets (foreign exchange or commodities businesses) or credit lending area of a major bank or financial institution
• Knowledge of options, commodities, securities and OTC Derivatives
• Knowledge of lending and credit risk practices
• Knowledge of the banking industry and related business processes
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum/Iterative software development life cycle (SDLC)
