Technical Release Manager
Location : Richardson TX
Duration: 6 months with possible extension
Position Description:
The Release Manager will manage large multidiscipline releases in a matrix management organization.
The Release Manager directs activities to ensure the software products meet quality standards and performance
objectives within defined time and budget targets.
REQUIRED:
Minimum of 5+ years' experience as a full-time Release Manager in the waterfall and Agile environment.
Minimum of 2 years hands on technical experience (software development or DevOps, or system admin roles)
Strong project management skills.
Strong business and technical acumen.
Ability to bring together people with diverse perspectives and experience to find solutions.
Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Excellent analytical skills, coupled with strong sense of urgency, ownership and passion.
Excellent communication skills--written/verbal, keeps others informed, involves the right people in decision making, is proactive and displays strong initiative
RESPONSIBILITIES
Release Management:
Works with a team of professionals that brings together the full range of technical and business competencies needed to assist Senior Management with the successful achievement of their priorities, which are consistent with goals and objectives.
Establishes and maintains a close-working relationship with all project stakeholders and technical staff to ensure alignment between solution being delivered to business goals.
Responsible for ensuring all project stakeholders based on the level of interest and authority are well informed of project progress and decisions.
Full Ownership of Release Train/Release Cycle – Planning / Managing.
Must understand how to negotiate resource constraints, and critical path contention issues.
Frequently collaborate and communicate with Stakeholders, delivery teams in defining goals/roadmaps, setting priorities and managing expectations.
Experience with agile software development practices.
Represents IT team in the change advisory board meeting(s).
Runs daily release status meeting and reports on release progress and provide release guidance as needed.
Effectively manages UAT activities and follows through with cross functional groups in timely manner
Organizes and facilitates release retrospectives.
Follow the overall ITIL Release and Deployment Management to perform the detailed planning of Release build, Release test and Release deployment.
Continuous Delivery/Devops
Collaborate effectively with delivery teams and support the enablement of a Continuous Delivery Ecosystem.
Collaborate with the delivery, solutions and systems operations staff on standards for deployment, scaling, capacity planning and environment management.
Possesses the required technical knowledge to manage all aspects of a Information Technology project (Applications, Infrastructure, networks, and Security).
Preferred Skills:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
Experience with web application development and service oriented architectures
Working Knowledge of application monitoring and performance management tools.
Working knowledge of automated build and configuration tools such as Puppet and Chef.
Working knowledge of Service management /issue tracking tools.(Ex: Servicenow,Jira)
Experience with virtualization technologies and/or other elastic provisioning tools.
Understanding of database technologies and proficient in SQL
Experience managing application deployment pipelines.
Experience with Continuous Integration frameworks.
