General Job Information:

Designs, implements, analyzes and modifies systems for various applications. Defines system objectives and prepares system design specifications. Responsible for interface problem solving. Responsible for gathering analyzing client business requirements in order to identify and solve problems. Acts as communication liaison between business and IT teams.

Position Summary:

The Business Analyst is responsible for eliciting and documenting project requirements, documenting current state and future state process, validating high level design, supporting detail design, contributing to test case preparation, and supporting training plan development. The Business Analyst is generally responsible to provide functional requirement knowledge and, as such, participate in ad-hoc meetings to solidify design. The Business Analyst will follow a use case methodology for requirements development. This project will implement a new Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) for the client. The successful candidate will have proven experience implementing Utility Energy Management Systems.

Responsibilities:

• Leads the project requirement specification effort. Meets with project and business SMEs to extract, analyze, and document requirements. Conducts process and requirements reviews with IT and Business clients. Creates use cases and a use case model.

• Manages change to requirements and identifies potential scope creep.

• Provides requirement knowledge to the project team in support of design, development, test, and training.

• Identifies risks and issues and proposes effective mitigation.

• Reports to the project manager.

 

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of business analysis experience, with participation on projects with a $1M project budget or greater.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate customer business needs into application requirements.

• Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team-oriented group environment.

• Proven experience leading a matrixed group or project and business SMEs in requirements development sessions.

• Experienced with multiple software development methodologies.

• Proven experience developing uses cases, a use case model, reporting needs, and requirement tracking documentation. Should be familiar integration design and developing high level logical models representing information models and flows among multiple applications.

• Experience working with the utility industry. Familiarity with transmission or distribution is strongly preferred.
