Technical Architect - Business Intelligence
Key Responsibilities:
- Works directly with analysts, developers and project members to develop new functionality from business specifications by modeling, designing, developing, testing, and implementing the appropriate back-end structures.
- Performance tuning of current and new SAP BW objects.
- Lead SAP BW projects through all project phases starting from requirements gathering, analysis through testing and productive implementation.
- Develop the appropriate data models, transformations, documentation, batch scheduling, inbound and outbound interfaces.
- Create, modify, and maintain development objects related to the SAP BW platform.
- Maintains, documents, and provides technical support for systems, as well as modifying, optimizing existing and creating new systems software for specific company needs.
- Assist in system test, performance test and other user tests (includes project, enhancement and issue resolution).
- Plan, manage, develop and execute testing of SAP BW ETL (extract-transform-load) solutions to ensure the system is meeting business needs.
- Support the current production operations deployed in SAP BW including design/architecture changes required to address recurring problems
Required Experience/Skills:
- 8-10+ years of experience in SAP BW space.
- 5+ years of experience in SAP BW 7.x versions
- 3+ full SAP BW implementation lifecycles and 2+ SAP BW Production Support project.
- Strong data modeling and dimensional skills
- Strong SAP BW knowledge and experience including standard / generic extractors, data sources, InfoObjects, ODS / DSO objects, InfoCubes, MultiProviders, update rules, transformations, start routines, DTPs, InfoSpokes / OpenHub, process chains for SAP standard and custom data sources
- Knowledge of standard SAP BW content and how to activate and implement
- Strong knowledge in delta initialization, data loading, performance tuning (partitioning, aggregates, compression, indexing, data modeling)
- A solid familiarity with the following SAP environments - SAP BW and ERP/ECC
- Strong knowledge in SAP transport methodology
- Capable of receiving complex business applications projects; determining the most appropriate method of achieving the necessary results; and developing, implementing and checking the resulting system changes or modifications.
- Ability to evaluate requirements and design, develop and implement end-to-end custom complex BW solutions per requirements.
- Strong leadership in facilitating workshops with business users for requirement collection, prioritization, and solution design.
- Ability to document functional and technical requirements, report specifications, design documents, and test scenarios according to standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication. Ability to communicate requirements to and work with developers to produce required information and reports. Effectively communicate with users of all levels of the business.
- Must be creative, comfortable learning and using new technologies, able to work on multiple projects.
- Has good knowledge of testing strategies, methodologies and been responsible for executing unit, integration and user acceptance testing.
