Description:
The Commercial Operations Project's team is adding a developer to their team to work on development projects for the Trading, Risk, and Credit business unit. The successful candidate will be a member of a high performing Scrum team aligned with the Energy Trading, Risk, and Credit business units. The business is constantly changing to meet industry demands and maintain competitive advantage.
The team is operating as a 'Product Line' team performing both capital projects and support services. The team includes a highly engaged Product Owner who provides prioritization of work, and represents the interests of the business unit. The work environment is open, collaborative, and fast paced.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Design, develop or modify code according to AEP standards and practices.
2. Identify and remove software defects.
3. Give direction as technical lead and work with team members.
4. Provide solution ideas and direction.
5. Use software testing tools to assure the creation of software having the fewest defects.
6. Lead and participate in code reviews.
7. Share responsibility and assist team members in achieving goals.
8. Communicate effectively with others.
9. Mentor peers and junior software developers.
Design, develop, document, test, and debug new and existing software systems and/or applications for market sale or large-scale proprietary software for internal use. Use Microsoft .NET Framework and a supported programming language (e.g., VB.NET, Visual C#).
Analyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs as needed. Participate in software design meetings and analyze user needs to determine technical requirements. Consult with end user to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs.
Conducts complex work important to the organization. Works under minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent judgment. Typically requires six to nine years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of experience and education
Requirements: Education: Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, or Associates Degree with 8-12 years IT Software Developer related experience or High School Diploma/GED with 10 years IT Software Developer experience.
Experience: Typically entry level; 8-12 years Software Developer experience. Technical knowledge usually acquired from an educational institution or through equivalent work experience.
Desired Skills:
• Strong background in Javascript/jQuery, HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap and responsive design.
• Good hands on knowledge of OOPS (Object Oriented Programming Structure)
• Assist with the preparation of resource estimates for projects.
• Ensures alignment of AEP's supported technology stack to solutions.
• Strong work ethic with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Communicating consistently with clients to understand & analyze requirements and propose solutions.
• Experience working with Infragistics, preferably IgniteUI.
• Expert in Web API, C# and WCF service, ASP.NET MVC, LINQ, and Oracle
• Enabling and promoting technology and team level continuous improvement activities that increase the quality and value of product delivery.
• Providing production support that is shared with team members on a rotating schedule.
• Troubleshoot and remediate production application issues.
• Prepare and coordinate production deployments
