Job Title: Junior SQL Server DBA
Location: Portland, OR
Duration: 6 Months
Need USC, GC or EAD-GC Only
Local Consultant Only
Position Overview:
Maintain and enforce policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of RDBMS; maintains and optimizes databases by designing, documenting, normalizing, and securing physical database systems based on assigned specifications; accurately estimating project efforts and timelines; prioritizing multiple tasks effectively; understanding internal customer expectations and recognizing when issues/events may effect delivery dates; assisting in adherence to schedules and deadlines; prioritizing work and escalating issues to Sr. level when appropriate.
Job Responsibilities:
- At least one year of Database Administration experience in a production environment
- Work with senior IT team members to manage database projects, migration of code to production and back-up / recovery of data.
- Design, Implement and monitor back-end SQL jobs
- TSQL development including stored procedures, triggers, functions, database mail.
- Database tuning and performance monitoring
- Recommend, develop, document, and enforce SQL Server best practices
- Familiarity with the Optimization and tuning of queries/procedures
- Work closely with development teams – Help development teams write queries in an optimized manner
- Perform code reviews – Evaluate compliance with defined standards and best practices
- Assist staff on best practices concerning T-SQL coding standards.
- Administer Microsoft SQL Server (familiarity with clustering, security and encryption)
- Troubleshoot various production and development issues concerning SQL and applications.
- Ability to work second or third shift hours
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Familiarity with Windows Server OS on SQL Servers
- Evaluate, test and recommend third-party components
- Provide general technical troubleshooting concerning all aspects of technology and how that technology relates to the database environment
- Would be a PLUS if this person has knowledge of Microsoft SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS database support systems as well as possess version upgrade experience (from various versions to 2008R2 and 2012)
