Roles & Responsibilities
Candidate will have the skills required to install, configure, and support an organization's local area Midrange infrastructure including AIX/Linux/Solaris systems. Responsibility for the availability to all system users and customers for production, QA, Test DR. Education/Experience: Bachelor degree in computer science preferred or related work experiece. 5-7 years experience required. Skills and Competencies: Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills. Candidate needs to be self motivated and manage time to ensure that they provide the best solutions to the customer meeting service level agreements including when there is an issue. Ability to identify, interpret and evaluate system and network and storage requirements. Knowledge of computer hardware and software as it related to Linux/AIX/Solaris and virtual environments for each. Major Job Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain and administer Unix/Linux/AIX and related computing environments including computer hardware associated with the OS's including Virtual environments and supporting infrastructure, systems software pertaining to the OS, applications software, and all configurations within the environment. Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations along with On Call coverage if and when required. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other system issues working with the team and vendors as needed to follow best practices. The ability to replace defective components when necessary if on own, remotely or with vendor interaction. Configure, monitor and maintain software needed to support infrastructure of the Midrange environment. Candidate must have the knowledge of using console access for system issue resolve along with performance monitoring of Midrange systems. Plan, coordinate, and implement changes needed to protect customer data, software, and hardware using in place change management system following process and procedure. Documentation is a requirement of this job for new process and procedures as needed. Candidate must be able to take on and complete 24 hour On-Call support as needed and assigned to support the environment. Perform other duties as assigned supporting the environment
