III.      Education

 

BS in computer science or 10+ year's relevant experience in storage engineering, operations, or specific related function. Significant relevant technical training courses would be the norm.

 

IV.     Knowledge, Abilities and Skill Expectations

• In-depth knowledge of Cisco Storage Networking is mandatory.
• In-depth knowledge of IBM Storage Solutions – XIV, SVC, v7000 and Flash Systems is mandatory.
• In-depth knowledge of Windows Clustering
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Hyper-V or other virtualization platform
• In-depth knowledge of Windows Powershell
• In-depth knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, Exchange (2007 and above), and IIS.  Experience with Active Directory & Exchange implementations of greater than 10,000 users.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL server as it pertains to Storage best practices  
• In-depth knowledge of rack infrastructure including power, KVM, etc.
• In-depth knowledge of Backup and Replication technologies including on and off site.
• General knowledge of HP Rack and Blade servers.
• General knowledge of HP C7000 Chassis
• General knowledge of HP Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager (VCEM)
• General knowledge of HP OneView
• General knowledge of Microsoft System Center products.
• Experience with large scale data center architecture and implementation; appreciate the important aspects of running a 24/7/365 enterprise environment.
• Experience in managing and organizing documentation within operational environments with focus upon indexing and content labeling.
• Detailed understanding and ability to operate within a process driven organization.
• Ability to communicate effectively to peers all the way up to C-Level members of the organization.  Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Sensitivity and cultural awareness is essential as the role will involve contact with a variety of people around the globe.
• Discipline and experience in recognizing and handling confidential and sensitive information.
• Excellent time management and attention to detail is essential.

 

 Title:                     Windows Engineer

Location:             Glen Mills, PA

Duration:             1 year

 

 

II.       Responsibilities

• Work with multiple teams to analyse and develop detailed plans for the migration of services to alternative hosting locations where applicable.  Focus will be on cloud technologies where possible.
• Communicate weekly updates to project manager on status of planning and migration activities.
• Where possible, identify improvements in migration processes and implement automation to reduce time and resources required to complete the tasks.
• For BCP services, assist continuity team on selecting the proper technology to ensure all SLAs for recovery are met.
• For BCP services, following migration activities, work with the appropriate business operations personnel to ensure proper continuity testing has been completed and signed off.
• Assist with management of available capacity to ensure no delays are realized due to lack resources.  This will include compute, storage, and network bandwidth requirements.
• Ensure all change management processes are followed as required.
• Ensure all asset management processes are followed as required, including the decommissioning and disposal of equipment no longer used.

 

III.      Education

 

·         5+ years' experience in a medium to large Microsoft shop

 

IV.     Knowledge, Abilities and Skill Expectations

• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, some experience with Linux is a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of cloud vendors and technology, specifically Microsoft Azure
• In-depth knowledge of replication technologies including both on and off premises, ideally Double-Take / Carbonite Availability. Microsoft ASR experience is a plus.
• General knowledge of Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware, Microsoft SQL Servers and Oracle Servers is a plus
• Experience working in an environment that has embraced a DevOps approach to service delivery is a  plus
• Effective analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
• Self-motivated and self-starter, able to work independently with minimal direction.
• Detailed understanding and ability to operate within a process-driven organization.
