 BASIC FUNCTION

The Senior WebSphere Application / Commerce Administrator is responsible for proactive and reactive troubleshooting, monitoring and maintaining existing WebSphere Application Environment. The administrator performs the installation, configuration, and day-to-day tasks associated with ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a WebSphere runtime environment. This includes the design and implementation of infrastructure from specifications, configuration and deployment of applications, connecting to back-end resources, and advanced troubleshooting of moderately complex software applications. This role requires the candidate to be highly flexible in hours of work because of its customer-facing, highly available infrastructure necessity.

 

This position will interface with our clients Electric Corporate IT support teams, i.e. Linux Administration, Oracle Database Administration, Enterprise Architecture, Vendor Management Office, and Security, and our clients Electric's business teams as required to maintain the environments.  Successful candidates will also have excellent communications skills, and will have experience in working in a matrixed team environment.  You will provide WebSphere Administration mentoring / coaching to other our clients Electric resources.  Overall objective of the Senior WebSphere Application / Commerce Administrator role is to ensure that all environments are maintained and available according to established Service Level Agreements (SLA) with minimal business disruption. Primary location for this job will be in St. Louis, however this role may require some travel within North America (up to 15%).

 

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build and maintain Development, QA, Staging and Production environment infrastructure in a cloud hosting provider

• Maintain environments by applying necessary fixpacks/feature packs/mod packs

• Knowledge and experience supporting WebSphere Commerce implementations with connectivity to ERP systems using Rest APIs, JMS Queues, and SFTP.

• Must be able to create and execute complex SQL statements

• Strong scripting skills

• Knowledge of Staging propagation and workspaces

Configure IBM WebSphere WCBD build & deployment tool for Commerce applications

• Understanding of IHS and proper processes for customer facing SEO configurations

• Under general direction, devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems

• Competent to work at the highest technical level of all phases of applications server activities

• Remains current with emerging software enhancements, security patches and bug fixes

• Monitor application and server performance, and create proper alerting for environment/application events

• Modifies, installs, and prepares technical documentation for system software applications

• Assists development and operations staff in the creation of scripts for automating deployments, operations monitoring and alerting
