Description:

 

Design, develop, document, test, and debug new and existing software systems and/or applications for market sale or large-scale proprietary software for internal use. Use Java programming language and related software development technologies such as Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE), JavaServer Pages (JSP)/Servlets, or JavaServer Faces (JSF). Serve as technical expert on development projects. Participate in full development life cycle including requirements analysis and design. Write technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements. Support, maintain, and document software functionality. Identify and evaluate new technologies for implementation. Analyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs as needed. Participate in software design meetings and analyze user needs to determine technical requirements. Consult with end-user to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs. Career-Level position within field. Considered highly skilled and proficient in discipline. Conducts complex work important to the organization. Works under minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent judgment. 


 Knowledge and experience required: 


Java/J2EE - Heavy on the back end!

• Weblogic experience

• J2EE 6/7/8, developing EJB within the past 2 years; 
• At least 1 year experience with Java Messaging Service (JMS) in an application server context; 
• At least 1 year SOAP and JAX-WS Web Service development experience; 
• WebLogic Application Server background; 
• Experience building java batch processes for large volume transactions; 
• Java Persistence API (JPA) for object to relational mapping, database access from java project; 
• Database experience (Oracle and DB2); 
• Linux Command Line navigation experience (vi, sqlplus, crontab, file management) 
SoapUI and LoadUI Experience. 


Knowledge and experience preferred: 


• Working in a Utility company; 
• Integrating with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems – specifically; 
• Landis+Gyr and Silver Spring Networks; 
• Hudson Continuous Integration; 
• Experience working on a Scrum team; 
• Working with the CIM Standard (common information model – IEC 61968); 
• Writing web services to interact with Shadow Data Direct; 
• Working with MQ Series queues; 
• Oracle PL/SQL; 
• Writing XSL stylesheets for message transformation; 
• Use of XMLSpy for XML schema manipulation/creation; 
• Working with Apache Camel; 
• Multiple JMS Platform Experience: WebLogic, JBOSS, TIBCO; 
• Unix/Linux shell scripting. 

Skills required: 
• Good written and oral communication skills; 
• Continuous improvement focus; 
• Collaboration skills; 
• Initiative, teamwork, and integrity.

 

Education:

 Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, or Associates Degree with 8-12 years IT Software Developer related experience or High School Diploma/GED with 10 years IT Software Developer experience.
