Role : Senior Network Engineer IP Evolution
Location : Dallas, TX
Duration : long term
Responsibilities:
- Consult with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical requirements.
- Consult with technical peers throughout the organization to drive common approaches to diverse requirements for routing, IP address management, and IPv6.
- Create IP architectures and designs, including architectural standards and principles, general design documentation, bills of material, and configurations as appropriate.
- Define/refine common standards for IPv6; IP addressing (including alignment with security zones, VLANs, etc.); IP address management (including DHCP, DNS, NTP); IP address management and IPAM automation; and appropriate use of static routes.
- Lead/execute project delivery for implementation of IP improvements; manage self and (as required) of work against budget and timeline requirements.
- Create as-built documentation.
- Conduct and facilitate transition to operations, providing subject matter expertise in an educational manner.
- Collaborate with peers to improve the overall team delivery of network engineering services.
- Follow the processes and methodologies for delivering projects.
- Work closely with all project stakeholder groups to coordinate the project milestones.
- Understand and translate cross-team dependencies into actionable plans.
- Proactively identify and manage risks. Plan for an effective risk mitigation.
- Track projects against approved budgets and report on forecasts and variances.
- Support the iterative business planning process.
- Resolve issues in a timely manner. Demonstrate an appropriate sense of urgency.
Required Skills:
- Must have strong experience in enterprise-class and/or carrier-class environments performing network engineering, design, and implementation.
- Must have strong, demonstrable experience with Wide Area Networking, routing and routed protocols, and network services such as WAN optimization, load balancing, and network security.
- Must have strong, demonstrable experience with IP and IP management technologies and principles.
- Must have strong, demonstrable experience with scripting and automation.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience with enterprise IP planning, design, and management.
- Minimum of 10 with Cisco routing and switching technologies.
- centralized IP address management technologies. VitalQIP is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 lead experience with IPv6 planning, including working with NIRs (e.g., ICANN, APNIC, etc.), external addressing planning and migration, and internal addressing planning and migration
- Extensive, demonstrable knowledge of and skills with IP schema planning, design, implementation, and refinement.
- Extensive, demonstrable knowledge of and skills with IPv6 planning and implementation.
- Extensive, demonstrable knowledge of and skills with IP address management platforms, including automation using
- said platforms.
- Extensive, demonstrable knowledge and skills with data center and campus Local Area Networking core technologies.
- Demonstrable knowledge and skills with one or more data center network enablement technologies, i.e., WAN acceleration and optimization; load balancing and traffic management; network encryption; web proxy; firewalls; IDS/IPS; NAC; deep packet analysis; etc.
- Must possess an understanding of enterprise technology infrastructure, application development & maintenance, software testing, and IT architecture as they relate to a cohesive, enterprise IP strategy.
Preferred Skills:
- Certifications such as CCIE, CCDE, CCDP, ACFE, ACSE, etc. are given a preference
- Four-year degree in a business-oriented or technical discipline preferred
