JOB TITLE: Testing Consultant

Job Description:
The role is for an onsite test resource to work as part of the Integration team with a focus on testing downstream applications. This resource will work closely with the downstream application owners to quickly understand the core functionality, processes and interactions of a given downstream application and create a level of test scripts that can be executed as functional tests to cover application changes and regression.
The Tester will be paired with an application owner and together they will be expected to run through the core functions, processes and interactions using the HP Sprinter tool (where feasible) and in this process, the tool will create a detailed test script. There may be some gaps in a process and the tester will be expected to obtain the required info from the application expert to complete the steps in the test scripts. If the tool cannot be used for a given application, the test resource is expected to obtain the required info for manual script creation.
During the recording process, we are essentially testing the application so the test resource will log any defects identified and then retest alone once the defect has been resolved. The test resource will also be expected to with the project team to understand the nature of change and create tests to validate the changes; will need to understand the data needed to execute tests and work with other teams to get this created.
Experience level: ~5 years in a software development /SAP test environment.
Proficiencies and Soft Skills:
Mandatory:
- Good Test Process knowledge - should know what a good test script consists of (pre-requisites, clear process steps, expected output and data to be used etc.)
- Good HP QC (ALM) experience, any Sprinter knowledge beneficial.
- Good communications skills – required to engage in dialogs with downstream Apps owners, Solution/Technical Architects, Development teams and offshore teams.
- Team Player - needs to be level headed, mature and know how to diffuse difficult situations whilst maintaining professional integrity
- Technically competent in SQL, transfer protocols, Unix, shell scripts, etc.
- Good organizational and coordination skills
Advantageous:
- SAP experience
- Integration / Interfaces experience
