Organizing a set of desired changes into one concise cohesive work package whose components can be developed together, moved to the quality test environment together, tested together, and then moved to production as one change (release).
Release management in SAP systems not only involves monitoring the high numbers of SAP transports but also observing the sequence of the different versions. A release consists of several changes that can in turn be assigned with multiple transport requests.
