Java Engineers
12 month contract
Scottsdale,AZ
SUMMARY:
Senior Software Engineer serves as the key backend developer on a multiple person (10-12) team to analyze, design, code, implement, support, enhance and debug an enterprise systems entire suite of components and is considered the subject matter expert on a systems functionality, behavior and capabilities. Leads all phases of a systems development life cycle with an emphasis on supporting & troubleshooting complex business and technical problems to shape and deliver a systems software components. Participates as a contributing member to the learn and evolve software development standards set forth for all software engineering staff. Training and mentoring of less experienced software engineers is an important focus of this position.
Role
- The Go-to expert in one area of the codebase; understands the broad architecture of the entire system.
- Thinks at the enterprise level for reliability, scalability, maintainability, extensibility, portability, and security.
- Provides technical advice and weighs in on technical decisions that impact other teams or the company at large. Researches and proposes new technologies.
- Scopes and stages work into well-defined milestones to avoid a monolithic deliverable.
- Regularly delivers software on-time and is constantly working to make accurate estimates and deliver on those estimates.
- Owns the technical testing and performance plan for their projects.
- Takes initiative to identify and solve important problems, coordinating with others on cross-cutting technical issues
- Sets direction at the project/service level and consistently influences decision-making at the top level of team
- Identifies and proactively tackles technical debt before it grows into debt that requires significant up-front work to resolve
- Able to provide feedback on projects outside of their core area
- Identifies and proposes strategies around technical problems affecting their team, communicates standards and gets buy-in on solutions
- Makes others better through code pull reviews, thorough documentation, technical guidance, and mentoring or serving as a Tech Lead on a project.
- Understands the tradeoffs between technical, analytical and product needs and leads to solutions that take all of these needs into account
- Able to enjoy and have fun in an exciting technology driven software development & support culture!!
REQUIREMENTS
• Java (7-10 years)
• Backend Expertise
• Agile
• Spring or similar MVC framework
• Unix/Linux
• Service oriented designs and technologies (AJAX, XML/JSON)
• Web service protocols, such as SOAP or REST
• SQL, NoSQL
• Software development tool kits, such as Subversion and/or GIT
• Exceptional analytical skills
• Exceptional verbal, written and listening communication skills
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and demeanor
• Strong leadership skills
• Proficient in the use of MS Office applications, such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
PREFERRED
• Experience working on Amazon EC2 a plus.
• Experience working on Oracle Service Bus a plus.
• HTML, CSS and JavaScript (jQuery), AngularJS a plus.
• Familiar with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins and Sonar.
