Job Description
Our client has an opening for a High Performance Data Analytics Software Engineer to join a team of engineers that is focused on bringing the power of High Performance Computing (HPC) to Big Data Analysis. This team is on the leading edge of migrating big data frameworks and tools from the distributed computing model to the parallel model to take advantage of the power of high performance computing platforms. This engineer will join a team of engineers that is dedicated to bringing the power of HPC to Big Data Analysis. This team is on the leading edge of shifting big data frameworks and tools from the distributed computing model to the parallel model, to take advantage of the power of HPC platforms. Duties may include being able to:
Partake in the full software lifecycle development using object oriented methodologies,
Assist with design activities,
Implement software in C/C++/Java,
Recognize execution bottlenecks and implement performance enhancements,
Incorporate and test software and systems,
Contribute to technical reports to be delivered to management and/or customers, and
Mentor and coach junior team members.
Additional duties include being able to:
Implement imaginative thinking and ideation to enhance our client's business performance,
Provide innovative, flexible, incorporated solutions to fulfill customer's dynamic business essentials,
Support and involve in programs, projects and practices behind the company's philosophy and strategy, and conform to all policies and procedures, and
Follow industry and department patterns and developments to guarantee company services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.
Key Requirements
Candidates must exhibit a passion for advancement, a refined understanding of software systems and applications, and the ability to efficiently manage, grow and evolve company software solutions.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Software Engineering or equivalent field and 5 to 8 years of related experience, or a Master's degree and 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
Candidates must exhibit a thorough understanding of software engineering principles.
Experience with Big Data Frameworks, Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), along with knowledge of parallel computing techniques are strongly desired.
Expertise in C, C++, Java and Object Oriented programming is required.
Experience developing in and administrating/configuring Linux environments is also a requirement.
DoD TS/SCI security clearance.
Applicants selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must fulfill eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
U.S. citizenship.
Preferred qualifications include having experience/knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
Knowledge and experience with data ingest or processing with HDFS.
Experience with Map Reduce and other big data analysis techniques.
Familiar with Python, Perl or other scripting language.
Expert in the use of debugging tools.
Expert in the software development process.
Experience in the use of software tools such as Integrated Development Environments like eclipse.
Demonstrated experience working in a team environment.
Exposure to and some experience in development with Scala or R languages.
C/C++ development/debugging in highly-scalable, distributed, large multi-node environment.
Experience in open source development and knowledge of Git, JIRA, Jenkins, Maven, Ant, Subversion.
Knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem or related (Avro, Thrift, HBase, Accumulo, Spark, Pig, ZooKeeper, Kafka, Storm, YARN, MapReduce).
Knowledge of machine learning, graph analytics or other Big Data data science applications.
