Senior Database Administrator
Trane Intelligent Services (TIS) is looking for a strong hands-on database administrator with experience working in a small agile team. A successful candidate will have the ability to collaborate with the product management group, architects, and engineering teams to define and deliver on our product vision.
Database Administration
• Responsible for planning, design, implement, and maintain database systems and related applications.
o Primary responsibility is HP Vertica (high performance analytic database).
o Secondary includes Oracle and MySql databases.
• Monitor, analyze, and tune performance of all database systems.
• Work closely with engineering teams, modeling (logical and physical models) and implementing the underlying database structures.
• Work closely with analytic engineers assisting them in efficiently pulling data, running analytics, and storing associated results.
• Develop, implement, and maintain database related standards.
• Ensure all database are regularly backed up
• Keep databases up to date with current versions.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics or computer science or related degree, or equivalent level of technical experience required.
• 5+ years of experience administrating and tuning databases.
• Experience working on large scale databases in a high availability environment. Specific experience with HP Vertica is preferred, but not required (we can train).
• Experience in agile development culture and practices.
• Experience working with offshore development groups.
• Familiarity with data warehousing, especially in relation to business intelligence tools (Microstrategy)
• Familiarity with ETL tools is preferred (Informatica)
• Familiarity working in a cloud infrastructure (AWS)
Technology Stack / Frameworks
• HP Vertica (experience in Vertica is preferred, but we can provide training)
• SQL (Oracle, MySql)
• Strong knowledge of linux / unix operating systems
• ETL (Informatica)
• Amazon Web Services (AWS)
